Welcome to our website!
Bootleg Farm is a small family farm that produces and sells fresh, farmstead goat cheese and pet grade raw milk. We are Grade A licensed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture and the USDA.
We are located just outside the small rural town of Springfield, GA. on 50 acres of wooded land, or goat heaven. Our goats have a consistent diet of all the natural browse they can eat, perennial peanut hay grown by our friend and neighbor, Chaffhaye, and a daily ration of grain. The "Girls" are very healthy which produces great tasting milk and delicious cheese. We do not give any routine worm treatments or antibiotics but do so if a condition warrants treatment. If treated with any medications, they are pulled from the "milk line" until the recommended milk withdrawal time has passed and the animal is back to good health. We make all efforts to keep everything as nature intends and have been rewarded with big, healthy, happy goats that produce beautiful, delicious milk.
"People ask us why we work so hard all the time, and trust me, there are days I wonder that myself. But the simple reason for me is that I love our farm life. There is a peace that you find working with animals on a daily basis and, some how, it puts life into proper perspective. It allows us to be next to God's beautiful and amazing creation. Milking before the sun even rises allows you the quiet time that sometimes your mind needs to face busy days. The soft breathing of a quiet baby goat nibbling at your neck while in your arms can give your soul a peaceful sigh. The birth of a new kid brings the realization that life is miraculous and enduring. While the death of a small kid too weak to survive, reminds us of life's fragility and how each moment of life is precious. It is the simplicity of life that pulls at us each day and I am content to stay away from the fast pace of this world"............................Wendy Cowart
Goats know the voice of the shepherd and place their complete trust of their well being in the shepherd. Isn't it amazing that we have a Shepherd whom looks after our well being if we only listen to His voice and trust Him.
Feel free to contact us with any questions or just to send us a note. A contact form is at the bottom of this page. We would love to hear from you.
